Our Mission
Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
ROOTS Austin, Raising Our Own to Succeed, is a youth development program inspiring students to:
- Be Culturally Aware – A focus on self-identity and culture;
- Be an Entrepreneur – From ART to MARKET;
- Be STEM Ready – Hands on experience with Coding, Drones, Gaming and Gardening;
- Be A Creator of Music – Lyricism;
Our History
ROOTS Austin is an after school program in Austin, TX funded under the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas.
BGCSCT is a public, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization located in San Marcos, Texas. One of the BGCSCT’s most unique features is that it is one of only two Clubs in the United States that operate a charter school. BGCSCT is fortunate to have two charter schools, Texas Preparatory School – San Marcos and Texas Preparatory School – Austin, which implements BGC programs and operates according to the BGCSCT mission. While TPS – San Marcos solely operates as a traditional BGC after school program, the Austin campus, Texas Preparatory School – Austin’s after school program is ROOTS (Raising Our Own to Succeed) Austin.
